Scotland: casks for the whisky

Of course we were also there for the single malt whisky. We visited several distilleries. But we were most impressed by a place we discovered purely by accident. In this place they make the casks for the spirit. You could see the coopers at work in the workplace and we got a lot of information about the making of.

Back home from the Netherlands. Learning to make spoons at such a place in the woods: it was just brilliant!
We made them out of birch-wood. The most difficult part is learning to use the tools and in the beginning it is better to be careful because everything is razor-sharp. So I took it slow.
That is why I still have to finish some of the spoons. I hope I find the time to do that soon.
But my first spoon is ready and I am a bit proud of that first tiny creation.
